Who is Parlay Pete? The Intro:

Before we get into Who is Parlay Pete, we first need to understand what is Parlay Pete, and more importantly, why is Parlay Pete. The easier part of that question is the what of it all - “Who is Parlay Pete? The Blog” is a weekly rundown of what is happening in my various fantasy sports leagues and the results of a minimum once-weekly 5-leg parlay. I will provide an inside look at proprietary algorithms and analytics that show that even in losses, there can be wins.

Now for the why… “Who is Parlay Pete? The Blog” is my attempt to derive some joy from my failures at fantasy football and small stakes gambling. In other words, I am going to blog through it. I absolutely suck at fantasy sports (and maybe I’ll look internally at certain points in the season and dissect why) and for some reason the weekly 5-leg parlays are rarely successful. Maybe you, dear reader, can take some enjoyment out of these failures.

Let’s start with a brief summary of the active leagues:

  1. Where the Big Boys Play - 12-team dynasty football league

    1. Status: Rebuilding

    2. Current Record: 1 - 3

  2. Aaron Hernandez League - 12-team 3 keeper max league

    1. Status: Going for It

    2. Current Record: 4-0

  3. Chopped - 16-team Guillotine League

    1. Status: Chopped in Week 5

  4. Parlays - 5-man collective parlays

At least one time a week, a post will focus on one of the leagues above and do a deep dive (not that deep) into what happened and, if it was a loss, why it was unfair and illegitimate. Let’s start with Chopped, because I am fired up about it this morning.

I’d first like to thank Dalton Kincaid (1.70 points), Parker Washington (2.00 points) and Bucky Irving (6.10 points) for all severely underperforming their expectations. If just one of them hit their average, I would still be riding high in the Guillotine league. The pain of having one of the best teams on paper through 4 weeks only to be chopped in Week 5 because Lamar Jackson got hurt going into the half and those 3 above shit the bed is incomparable. The worst part is I had Kyle Monangais 28 points just sitting on my bench. There will now be a feeding frenzy on the waiver wire for my guys - best of luck to the remaining competitors, but also I hope they all lose.

I’ll stop there in an effort to keep my first post brief because I could go on. Future posts will go into the lore of Parlay Pete, my opinions on fantasy sports and sports-betting, and so much more.
